Truck Safety

Falls Leading To Injury

Climbing_rev5.jpg

Falls from height are a leading cause of driver injuries. Most fall incidents occur when the Driver:

• Exits or enters the cab

• While conducting trip inspections, maintenance or repairs

• Cargo securement or unloading cargo

Falls from the cab steps, freight trailers and flatbed decks, increase when work surfaces are wet or covered with snow, ice, mud, or grease.

Ensure you wear proper safety footwear with good support and slip-resistant soles. If you are unfamiliar with the unit you have been assigned, take the time to look for the placement of handholds, steps and handrails.

3 Point Contact at all times entering or exiting the cab is the rule of thumb.
